Who we are
PYECSO Learn is the learning platform operated by the Patriotic Youths Education, Cultural and Social Organization (PYECSO), a youth-led Afghan non-governmental organization founded in 2006. When this policy refers to 'we', 'us' or 'PYECSO', it means PYECSO acting as the data controller for the platform.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, chosen role (student, teacher or manager), preferred language and password (stored hashed).
- Learning activity: courses you enroll in, assignments you submit, quiz scores, certificates you earn and messages you exchange with your teachers.
- Technical data: device type, browser, IP address and log data needed to keep the service reliable and secure.
- Optional data: profile photo, biography and any content you upload voluntarily.
How we use your data
- Deliver courses, live classes, certificates and other platform features.
- Personalize your dashboard and recommend relevant learning content.
- Communicate important updates (account verification, password resets, class announcements).
- Protect the platform from abuse and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Legal basis
We process your data under the legal bases of (a) performance of the education service you signed up for, (b) your consent for optional features, and (c) our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe.
Sharing your data
Access to your data is limited to authorized PYECSO staff, your assigned teacher and manager for the courses you take, and trusted processors that host our infrastructure. Everyone with access is bound by confidentiality obligations.
Data retention
We keep your account and learning records for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time; certificates and audit records may be retained in anonymized form to preserve verification integrity.
Your rights
You can access, correct, download or delete your personal data by contacting privacy@pyecso.org.af. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority.
Security
PYECSO Learn uses HTTPS everywhere, encrypted-at-rest storage, per-user row-level security in our database, and optional two-factor authentication. We never share your password with anyone.
Children
Some PYECSO programs serve minors. In that case, a parent, legal guardian or authorized program coordinator must consent to the child's account and supervise its use.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates to this page and, for significant changes, notify signed-in users by email.
